Here’s an opportunity for Deaf people living in London who fancy a go at doing some acting,…
The Young Vic Theatre in waterloo working with local adult participants and community groups on participatory theatre projects.
“We are currently recruiting for a multilingual cast for a new community show – including d/Deaf BSL users as BSL is one of our country’s languages – and it would be amazing if there was any way that SPIT could pass on the info or even if you knew anyone who would be interested in being involved. It’s a participation project so we’re not looking for professional actors and in fact we want to give people who we feel would benefit the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, and be part of something a bit different.
We have some info (below) and this is our BSL video:
A chance for you to perform in a Young Vic Community Show
The Young Vic puts on two community shows a year with full professional creative and production teams in one of our theatre spaces. This June, partly inspired by seeing inclusive shows working with BSL interpreters and foreign languages such as Two Destination Language’s Near Gone, we are looking for a fully inclusive cast of multilingual adult participants be that users of BSL, or speakers of any non-English language.
No experience of performing – or the arts – necessary. If you are interested or have any questions contact Lily on email@example.com for more info. Rehearsals will be inclusive, engaging and fun and all will be supported by a team of BSL interpreters.
Rehearsals: Saturdays & Monday evenings from March to end of June
Some daytime sessions from 13th June to 25th June
Performances: Evenings & Afternoons 23rd, 24th, 25th June
